2025 Daytona 500 Entry List: Johnson, Truex Jr. Among Drivers Vying For A Spot In The Great American Race

The 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season is set to kick off with the 67th running of the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. This year’s entry list features a total of 45 drivers, all hoping to secure one of the 40 coveted spots in the “Great American Race.”

While 36 Charter cars are guaranteed a place in the field, nine non-Charter cars will battle it out for the remaining four positions. Among those nine drivers are two former series champions, Jimmie Johnson (No. 84) and Martin Truex Jr. (No. 56), both of whom will need to race their way into the main event.

Other notable drivers attempting to qualify for the Daytona 500 include Corey LaJoie (No. 01), Justin Allgaier (No. 40), JJ Yeley (No. 44), Anthony Alfredo (No. 62), Chandler Smith (No. 66), BJ McLeod (No. 78), and Helio Castroneves (No. 91).

Helio Castroneves, driving for Trackhouse Racing, plans to take advantage of NASCAR’s new Open Exemption Provisional. If Castroneves fails to qualify for the race through single-car qualifying or the Duel races, he will start the Daytona 500 in the 41st position, thanks to the newly introduced provisional rule.
